The MIJI Concert Series is back, for another experimental music performance taking place in a long rectangular room.

About the performers

Hui Ye

born in canton, china.
2004-2011 studied composition and electroacoustic composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, graduated in 2011.
Since 2010, she is studying Digital Arts and TransArts at the University of Applied ArtsVienna. She is the laureate of Theodor-K?rner Fonds Austria 2009, Startstipendium (Start Scholarship) by the Federal Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (BMUKK) Austria2011 and Staatsstipendium (State Scholarship) by the Federal Chancellery of Arts and Culture (BKA) Austria 2015.
Her artistic works spans video, graphic, sound performances, sound and video installations, instrumental and electroacoustic compositions. Having an artistic background as a graduated composer and with profound experience as musician and performer Hui Ye questions the synchronicity of image and sound. In her artistic work she explores the transformations of auditive and visual components.
Besides that, as a chinese artist based in Vienna/Europe since years, Ye is reflecting her personal experience of every day life. The issues of the social identity of the individual,transculturality and cross-culture studies are of increasing relevance in her artistic practice.

Paul Gründorfer

Paul Gründorfer is sound and media artist based in Vienna Austria. He studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and is co -founder of Velak Gala – A non-profit organisation/platform for artists who work in fields of experimental music, video and performance.
Currently Gründorfer is dealing with experimental music and sound design, sound installation and sound interventions. The focus is on real-world systems that can be autonomous or in relation to spatial situations, and can also be played improvised. For this purpose ‘real time audio synthesis’ programming languages such as Supercollider, PureData, or microcontroller and small analog circuits are used.

Sheng Jie

Born In 1975 . Based In Beijing China.
Audio/ Visual Artist, Graduated Form Ecole Supérieure Des Arts Décoratifs De Strasbourg In France, Currently Lives And Works In Beijing, My Work Includes Video, Sound, Installation And Performance. Founded Audio Visual Lad SHAN Studio In 2010.

Zhu Wenbo

Now lives in Beijing. He has formed many different music projects, from experimental and underground rock band, to improvisation, composition, practice or game. These projects includes Fat City (2008-2012), Xiao Hong & Xiao Xiao Hong (2010- ), CT-808 (2014- ), No Performance (2015- ), Not In Catalog (2015- )…
From 2009 to 2015, Zhu organized the weekly experimental/improvisation/noise performance series Zoomin’ Night on every Tuesday. A lot of Beijing’s new generation experimental musicians began their performance from Zoomin’ Night. Now Zoomin’ Night is a cassette label.

SubjamSince 2011, Subjam’s MIJI Concert Series brings together Beijing artists and international performers for experimental jam sessions. Artists are welcome to engage in cold improvisation, radical performance, and absolute noise. Expect anything!
