At a time when the consumer society interacts with artistic activities more deeply than ever, what transformations has the concept of artistic creation undergone?
What is the role of artists in such a state of things?
Will these transformations redefine the concepts of art and design?
Art, Design and Business: Which has the upper hand?
The expansion of the globalized economy has been a source of unprecedented changes within the field of arts – influencing classical art forms, and giving rise to many new artistic ideas and modes of expression. Simultaneously, the involvement of art in interdisciplinary exchanges has provided the fields of design and business with a new vitality.
Chinese artists and designers are attempting to set foot into this new world, on their own terms. What can be expected of their encounters and dealings with the established systems in Western countries?
These questions will be the object of an in-depth conversation among the four guests of our special panel: Marco Meneguzzo, Xiang Jing, Qu Guangci and Hong Huang.
Pr. Marco Meneguzzo is a curator of the Venice Biennale, a specialist of the art market and Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Milano. Xiang Jing and Qu Guangci, celebrated Chinese sculptors, are the founders of the arts brand Xi Qi. Hong Huang is a publisher and the founder of the Brand New China designers concept shop.
